Start with the vehicle manufacturer’s recommendation. Check voltage, capacity (Ah), cold cranking current (A EN), dimensions, terminal layout and hold-down. Make and model alone are not enough. The year, engine and start-stop system may change the required specification. Record these details and compare them with the vehicle manufacturer's instructions, especially if the battery has been replaced before.
Compare electrical and physical specifications
Check the label for voltage, Ah, cold cranking current and technology. Verify length, width, height, mounting and the position of the positive terminal. A battery with the right capacity may still have the wrong case or terminal layout.

Can I choose a battery by car make alone?
No. The same model can have different engines and energy management systems. Check the exact version and the manufacturer's specifications.
